Which website you visit most nowadays?
Google!

People like to set their homepage to google
People like to search website via google
People like to find location with google
People like to search image via google
People like GOOGLE!!

But what i am going to talk about in this post is about Google Maps.

We know what is Google Maps. It really help us a lot if you want to go somewhere that you never been to without a gps. I used to search the route to reach somewhere that i don't know.
It will show the route with a 2D map.
How about 3D? No Problem.
How about 4D?
NO PROBLEM!!!

Yes, don't confuse. We are talking about viewing a 4D map via Google Maps!

Actually what i am talking about is Google Maps Street View.
This function have been developed since 2007.
Unfortunately, Malaysia is not in coverage.

But you can test it by viewing others country. What you have to do is go to Google Maps , click on the little yellow man which locate at the top of the zoom in button and drag it to the map which is in blue color (not the sea =.=). Now you will feel like you are touring the country. ^^ Try others country like Japan as well.

So how Google do that?

Google Street View displays scans taken from Google Street View cars which travel along all the cities and capture the street view.

Hoping this function will be soon available in Google Maps Malaysia. Then i won't get lost anymore ^^

P.S: You can get more fun photo that capture by Google Street View Cars via this website StreetViewFun

Play all the video with WMP!

Undeniable, nowadays all of us like free resources.
So, what will you do when you miss a movie that shown at the cinema?
DOWNLOAD!

Yes, that's what we always do when we want to watch a movie or drama for free.

RMVB seem is the most common video extension file that available online. The main reason is the file size is small and can support high quality video. However, after you finished download your favorite movie, suddenly you found that Windows Media Player that come with your Microsoft Windows can't play RMVB file?!

So what will you do now?
Delete the video and go buy original disc?
obviously none of us will do that, i sure!
2nd method, download Real Media Player from internet.
Hmm~ seem this is the way how we do most.

To play RMVB (or RM) files, actually we don't need any extra player.
What really we need is the CODEC!
Yes, the CODEC that make your Windows Media Player play RMVB file smoothly.

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is the most complete codec pack that available online.
With K-Lite codec pack, you can almost play 99% type of video that you download from internet.

The K-Lite Codec Pack has a couple of major advantages compared to other codec packs:

  • It is updated frequently. So it is always up-to-date with the newest and/or best components.
  • All components have been carefully selected for specific purposes. It is not just a random bunch of stuff thrown together.
  • It is very user-friendly and easy to use.
  • The installation is fully customizable, meaning that you are able to install just those components that you really want.
  • The customization abilities even go beyond the component level. Some components are able to handle multiple formats. You can specify exactly which components should handle which formats. The pack can thus be fully tweaked to your own specific needs and preferences.
  • Uninstallation removes everything that was installed by the pack. Including all registry keys.
  • It is extremely easy to make a fully customized unattended installation with the integrated wizard.
  • It does not contain any bad, buggy or unstable codecs.

6 E-mails Forwarding Tips

Monday, September 28, 2009
We used to forward email to our friends. But did you really sure that you know how to forward an email? Say yes after you read through this post.

(1) Delete
other addresses
When you forward an e-mail, DELETE all of the other addresses that appear in the body of the message (at the top). That's right, DELETE them. Highlight them and delete them, backspace them, cut them, whatever you know how to. It only takes a second. You MUST click the 'Forward' button first and then you will have full editing capabilities against the body and headers of the message. If you don't hit the forward button first you won't have full editing functions . I particularly dislike having to scroll through 200 Email addresses before I get to the email.

(2) Use BCC:
Whenever you send an e-mail to more than one person, do NOT use the 'To:' or 'Cc:' fields for adding e-mail addresses.. Always use the BCC: (blind carbon copy) field for listing the e-mail addresses. This is the way the people you send to will only see their own e-mail address.

If you don't see your 'BCC:' option click on where it says To: and your address list will appear. Highlight the address and choose BCC: and that's it, it's that easy. When you send to BCC: your message will automatically say 'Undisclosed Recipients' in the 'TO:' field of the people who receive it.

That way you aren't sharing all those addresses with every Tom, Dick or Harry.

(3) Hit the forward button
ALWAYS hit your Forward button from the actual e-mail you are reading. Ever get those e-mails that you have to open 10 pages to read the one page with the information on it? By Forwarding from the actual page you wish someone to view, you stop them from having to open many e-mails just to see what you sent. These are the ones that often end up having picked up a virus from somebody. This is really important!

(4) E-mail-signed petitions are scams!
Have you ever gotten an email that is a petition? It states a position and asks you to add your name and address and to forward it to 10 or 15 people or your entire address book. The email can be forwarded on and on and can collect thousands of names and email addresses.

A FACT: The completed petition is actually worth a couple of bucks to a professional spammer because of the wealth of valid names and email addresses contained therein. If you want to support the petition, send it as your own personal letter to the intended recipient. Your position may carry more weight as a personal letter than a laundry list of names and email address on a petition. (Actually, if you think about it, who's supposed to send the petition in to whatever cause it supports? And don't believe the ones that say that the email is being traced, it just ain't so!)

(5) E-mail forwarding won't bring you good luck
One of the main ones I hate is the ones that say that something like, 'Send this email to 10 people and you'll see something great run across your screen.' Or, sometimes they'll just tease you by saying something really cute will happen.

IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!!!! (Trust me, I'm still seeing some of the same ones that I waited on 10 years ago!) I don't let the bad luck ones scare me either, they get trashed. (Could this be why I haven't won the lottery??)

(6) Alerts are fake
Before you forward an Amber Alert, or a Virus Alert, or URGENT HELP Alert, or some of the other ones floating around nowadays, check them out before you forward them. Most of them are junk mail that's been circling the net for Years!

iPod nano

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Apple has made a few update to all of it's iPod products. Surprisingly, the iPod Nano is the device to get the most extensive updates from Apple.

The new iPod Nano 5th Generation still comes in a rainbow of colors and is ultrathin just like the previous generation. However, this new iPod Nano even equipped with built-in camera and an integrated mic. The bad news is, the camera is just for video shooting but not photo capturing.

Another new function of this new generation iPod nano is the FM tuner that marks the first time Apple has included a built-in FM radio on an iPod. The new FM tuner includes support for radio station RDS data which lets you see the names of songs and artists. Besides, the FM tuner also have Live Pause function that allow you to pause while listening to your favorite radio station. You can even rewind as far back as 15 minutes, then fast-forward to catch up to the live broadcast.

With the VoiceOver feature, you are never distracted from your ride or run by looking down at your screen. If you are listening to a song and want to know the title or the artist, just use the Click Wheel or the controls on the optional Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic and VoiceOver tells you the song name and who's performng it.

What VoiceOver sounds like:

Recording voice memos is technically not a new feature for the iPod Nano, but previous generations of the Nano required an investment in compatible headsets or recording accessories to use the feature. Now the built-in mic lets you capture a thought, a reminder, a class lecture, or any audio recording you want with Voice Memos.
Pros:
Packed to the gills with new audio-video features such as a video camera, FM radio, voice recording, Genius Mixes, a built-in speaker, and a larger 2.2-inch screen

Cons:
The Nano's camera can't shoot photos or HD-quality video and Apple located its lens in the most awkward location imaginable. Storage capacities remain stuck at 8GB and 16GB.

Conclusion:
This tiny stuff is selling RM 599 for 8GB and RM 719 for 16GB. It can be consider as a great mp3 player as i own a iPod Nano 4th Generation too. If you are considering buying an iPod for the first time, i feel it's worthwhile to remind you that Apple's iTunes is a required installation for your computer. The software is free and available for both Mac and PC.

iTunes 9

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Today was a big day for Apple.

iTunes 9 was announced today at this year's annual music event from Apple. I was an iTunes user since last year after i have bought my first ever 4GB iPod Nano 4th generation with a great price (RM 200). I have downloaded and installed iTunes 9 64bit for Windows in my laptop just now. The installer is about 90MB which takes me about 15 minutes to download with average speed 113KBps.

The installation of iTunes 9 also just as simple as other software. Just keep on clicking next, yes and end with Finish button.

This was iTunes 8:

And this is the latest iTunes 9:

It is not hard to find that the most noticeably change in the latest version of iTunes for Windows is the background color. From previous gray black background to now white background that allow users more focus on the content.

The iTunes 9 also now offers Home Sharing. This new feature will let you share purchased songs across a home network. As long as all the computers on the network are on the same iTunes account, you can drag to copy songs to other computers.

iTunes 9 has been cleaned up for easier navigation, redesigned with a new layout and a new black tabbed-menu system across the top of the iTunes Store interface. These new tabs replace the old left-side navigation to choose between categories like music, apps, movies, and podcasts. The layout for new content in the iTunes Store has been improved as well, with more browsable content in every category.

Overall the new version of iTunes is quite a big improvement. I may think of buy a Mac if i have the budget. For now, enjoy iTunes 9 on my DV4 ^^

Gallery: (from CNET Download.com)
The new iTunes, version 9, has an improved overall look that is a bit cleaner and more polished. It's also supposed to be easier to navigate, and it does seem simpler. Here is the main store screen.

Same goes for album pages, which feature a wallpaper design that gives it a more seamless look. They're much prettier than in version 8.

Another nice touch is that the movies that you rent or purchase through iTunes now behave more like DVDs.

Windows 7

Windows 7 will soon be launch (22 October) and become the latest Microsoft's windows product.

Thanks to INTI, all the inti's student can now get a free genuine copy of Windows 7 at intimal website. (For more details please refer here )

The copy that provided by INTI is a Professional edition of Windows 7.
Compare with the Ultimate edition which is the most complete edition, some extra features like AppLocker, BitLocker and multilingual user interface pack is not available in professional edition.
However, the Professional edition is already good enough to meet the requirement of INTI's students. (for details edition comparison please refer here)

Without wasting any time, i have downloaded the Windows 7 Professional Edition 64bit and installed it in my HP Pavilion DV4 laptop. Now i am using it typing this post too ^^

HP Pavilion DV4 Specification:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz
RAM: 4GB DDR2 Ram
HardDisk: 320GB Sata HDD
Graphic card: NVidia G105M

First at all, my laptop was pre-installed Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. After a month of using, i have formatted it to Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit which is not an original copy ^^ Once again i formatted it again to Windows 7 Professional Edition 64bit which is now become the genuine copy.

The reason i have chosen 64bit instead of 32bit is because 64bit of windows can fully support my 4GB ram. Those 32bit application can also run in 64bit environment without any error. The only problem is all the hardware that connected to my laptop have to be 64bit compatible. That's mean the hardware must be available in 64bit driver.

After backup-ed all my data and found all drivers of my laptop from HP website. I started my "Windows 7 Adventure".

The installation of Windows 7 is almost the same as Windows Vista. It is a graphical user interface which is look nicer than Windows XP which is blue background and can't even move your cursor. (mouse is useless at the beginning installation of Windows XP)

The whole installation of Windows 7 took about half an hour to complete. After the installation complete, what difference you will find at the first is the windows boot screen. No more moving bar from left to right, only 4 colors dot join together and make up the Windows logo.

if you see this page:

That's mean you have successfully installed Windows 7!

I will review more new features of Windows 7 in my next post.
Once again, say "THANKS" to INTI for my genuine copy of Windows 7!! ^^
